Essex County, NY – The New York State Police have announced that their Underwater Recovery Team will be conducting ice dive training exercises at Paradox Lake, specifically in the Dark Bay area, from February 7th to February 9th, 2024. Residents and individuals engaging in ice fishing or other activities in the vicinity are advised to expect an uptick in police presence during this period.

This training initiative is focused on ice diving and surface ice rescue operations. The state police have issued this announcement to ensure the public is not alarmed by the sight of divers in the water and the increased activity around Paradox Lake. These exercises are part of ongoing efforts to enhance the skills and readiness of the police force in conducting rescue operations under ice-covered waters.
