SYRACUSE, NY – The Syracuse Police Department is celebrating Black History Month by honoring Officer Cassandra Jones-Ingram.
She is the first African-American woman to serve in the department.
Hired on August 10, 1981, Officer Jones-Ingram dedicated over 20 years to the Syracuse Police, working in various capacities including Patrol, Missing Persons Unit, and as a D.A.R.E officer.
In recognition of her service, a street sign at the intersection of East Fayette Street and Westmoreland Avenue bears her name.
Officer Jones-Ingram’s legacy continues to inspire and serve as a role model within the Syracuse Police Department.
