Stabbing Death of Somerville Woman Leads to Arrest

SOMERVILLE, N.J. – The Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office, in conjunction with the Somerville Police Department, has announced the arrest of David C. Shroitman, a 27-year-old resident of Somerville, in connection with the homicide of Mary Rose Fealey, also 27, of Somerville. The incident occurred on January 30.

At approximately 10:20 p.m., Somerville Police responded to a 911 call reporting an injured, unresponsive female outside a residential complex on North Bridge Street. Ms. Fealey was found with multiple stab wounds and was pronounced deceased at the scene.

A thorough investigation by detectives from the Somerville Police Department, Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Unit, Crime Scene Investigations Unit, and the New Jersey Northern Regional Medical Examiner’s Office led to Shroitman’s arrest.

The Medical Examiner determined the cause of death as multiple stab wounds, ruling it a homicide.

David Shroitman is charged with Murder, Possession of a Weapon, Tampering with Physical Evidence, and Hindering Apprehension. He is currently held at the Somerset County Jail pending a detention hearing.
