Silver Spring, MD – The Montgomery County Police Department is calling on the public to help identify suspects involved in a shooting that took place on Thursday, January 25, in the intersection of Colesville Road and Second Avenue in downtown Silver Spring. This incident, occurring at approximately 11:50 PM, involved four suspects driving a gray 2008-2011 Toyota Camry.
According to the preliminary investigation, the suspects exited their vehicle, approached an adult male pedestrian, and commenced a physical assault. During the altercation, one suspect produced a handgun and fired several shots, striking the victim. An unintended victim, an innocent bystander in the vicinity, was also hit by a bullet aimed at the original target. Following the attack, the suspects made their escape in the Toyota Camry.
Both victims, adult males, were transported to local hospitals with injuries deemed non-life-threatening.
The police have secured surveillance photos of the suspects and are seeking the community’s assistance to identify them. Anyone with information is urged to contact the Montgomery County Police Department’s 3rd District Investigative Section.
