QUEENS, NY — Queens District Attorney Melinda Katz has announced the indictment of Eric Foster, 39, for his alleged involvement in a shooting incident that tragically took one life and left three others seriously injured, with two victims suffering paralysis. The incident, occurring in broad daylight on a residential street in Jamaica, Queens, has highlighted the ongoing issue of gun violence in the community.
Foster, residing on 146th Street in Jamaica, was arraigned on charges contained within an eight-count indictment. These charges include one count of murder in the second degree, three counts of attempted murder in the second degree, two counts of assault in the first degree, and two counts of criminal possession of a weapon in the second degree.
District Attorney Katz emphasized the gravity of the situation, stating, “A cold-blooded shooting in broad daylight on a residential street cost a man his life and left three others seriously injured. We must continue fighting this plague of gun violence by doing everything we can to get illegal guns and the criminals who use them off our streets.”
The legal proceedings against Foster are moving forward, with Queens Supreme Court Justice Ushir Pandit-Durant ordering Foster to be remanded into custody pending his next court appearance on March 12. If convicted of the charges, Foster faces a sentence ranging from 25 years to life in prison.
