Parsippany Police Department Reports Series of Theft and Burglary Incidents

PARSIPPANY, NJ — The Parsippany Police Department has released a detailed police blotter covering a series of criminal incidents that occurred in late January 2024, ranging from shoplifting and catalytic converter thefts to an attempted burglary and a high-speed pursuit resulting in an arrest.

Shoplifting Incidents:

  • On January 31, officers were called to Homesense on Waterview Boulevard, where two male suspects allegedly stole approximately $490 worth of merchandise. The same day, another report came from Ulta Beauty on the same boulevard, involving three female suspects shoplifting over $400 in products. The investigations are ongoing, with the Parsippany Police Department’s Investigative Division urging anyone with information to come forward.

Catalytic Converter Thefts:

  • Several reports were made regarding the theft of catalytic converters from vehicles in Parsippany. Incidents were reported on Lake Shore Drive, Parsippany Road, Faber Road, and Carlstadt Road, affecting various models including Volkswagen Jetta, Hyundai Sonata, Honda CRV, and Honda Accord. These thefts occurred between January 27 and 29, with investigations continuing.

Attempted Burglary:

  • An attempted burglary was reported on January 29, where residents on Faber Road were alerted by a knocking sound and discovered their rear sliding door slightly ajar and observed suspects fleeing the scene. A stolen grey BMW associated with the suspects was reported, with investigations into the incident ongoing.

Other Notable Incidents:

  • On January 29, Officer Hughes arrested Januari Patterson during a traffic stop on Route 46 East for an active warrant related to a probation violation. Patterson was transported to the Morris County Correctional Facility pending an extradition hearing.
  • Luis Hidalgo was arrested on January 26 at Avis Rental Car on Parsippany Road for stealing tires and rims from rental vehicles, facing multiple charges including theft and criminal trespass.
  • Ivin Gregory Bynum led officers on a chase on January 25 that ended with his vehicle crashing and him fleeing on foot. He was later arrested in his apartment and faces charges related to the pursuit and resisting arrest.
