Park Slope Perv Gets Seven Years in Prison for Molesting Young Girl

BROOKLYN, NY – John Stewart Russell, 62, from Park Slope, Brooklyn, has been sentenced to seven years in prison following his conviction for sexually assaulting a young girl.

The Brooklyn District Attorney’s office announced that Russell, found guilty of second-degree course of sexual conduct against a child and endangering the welfare of a child, will also face 10 years’ post-release supervision and must register as a sex offender.

The District Attorney’s statement highlighted the abuse which began in the summer of 2016, when Russell started grooming the victim, then 9 years old.

He abused her during piano lessons and on other occasions until June 2018. Russell’s trial concluded on January 11, leading to his sentencing on Friday by Brooklyn Supreme Court Justice John Hecht.

The abuse came to light after the victim disclosed it to her parents, resulting in Russell’s arrest on July 30, 2020.
