Freehold, NJ – Tyheim McGhee, an Asbury Park resident, was sentenced to 12 years in a New Jersey State Prison on Monday, January 29. This sentencing, announced by Monmouth County Prosecutor Raymond S. Santiago, is a result of McGhee’s involvement in a 2023 drug investigation.

During the proceedings in the Monmouth County Superior Court, presided over by Judge Jill O’Malley, McGhee faced multiple charges. He received a 12-year sentence for first-degree possession of cocaine with intent to distribute in excess of five ounces. Additionally, he was sentenced to seven years for second-degree distribution of over ½ ounce of cocaine and a concurrent five-year term for third-degree possession of a controlled dangerous substance.

McGhee’s conviction follows his plea entered on November 6, 2023. The charges originated from a joint investigation by the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office Gang Task Force and the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office Narcotics Strike Force. The investigation, conducted in February and March 2023, revealed that McGhee had sold over a half-ounce of cocaine to an undercover officer on four separate occasions.

The culmination of this investigation occurred on March 24, 2023, when a search warrant was executed at McGhee’s residence on Borden Avenue. This operation, involving the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office Narcotics and Criminal Enterprise Unit, the Monmouth County Sheriff’s Department, and the Asbury Park Police Department, led to the discovery of over five ounces of cocaine and various drug distribution paraphernalia.
