Two People Stabbed During Brawl Outside Bethesda Bar

Bethesda, MD – The Montgomery County Police Department’s 2nd District Investigative Section is actively investigating a double stabbing incident that occurred in Bethesda on Sunday, January 14. In an effort to identify the suspect involved, detectives have released surveillance video footage and are seeking assistance from the public.

The investigation has revealed that the incident unfolded at around 2 a.m., following a large altercation outside the La Catrina Bar and Lounge, located in the 4900 block of Cordell Avenue. One of the victims, while exiting the establishment at about 2:10 a.m., was assaulted by an unidentified suspect, leading to him falling to the ground. A second suspect then joined the assailant, and both proceeded to attack the victim. During his attempt to reach safety, the victim discovered he had sustained a stab wound to his side.

The second victim became involved in the incident after noticing a group engaged in a fight. While attempting to intervene, he was stabbed in the back.

Montgomery County detectives, after reviewing surveillance footage, have obtained a description of the suspect believed to be responsible for the stabbings of both victims. They are now appealing to the community for information that could lead to the identification and apprehension of the individual involved.
