Syracuse Man Charged After Brutal Attack on Cat

Syracuse, NY – In a disturbing case of animal cruelty, 24-year-old Frank Paglia has been arrested and charged by the Syracuse Police Animal Cruelty unit. The charge follows an incident that occurred on Tuesday, December 26th, 2023, involving a cat named ‘Milo.’

Paglia is accused of inflicting multiple blunt force injuries on Milo. The incident reportedly began when Paglia attempted to provoke a dog to attack the cat. However, after being scratched by Milo, Paglia responded with violence, stepping on, punching, and striking the cat with objects.

Due to the severity of the injuries sustained, Milo had to be euthanized. A subsequent necropsy conducted at Cornell University revealed the extent of the trauma: a right eye orbital fracture with displacement of the eye, a skull fracture, and an open rib fracture leading to breathing difficulties.

Paglia now faces a felony charge of Aggravated Cruelty to Animals. Following his arrest, he was released on an appearance ticket and is scheduled to reappear in Syracuse City Court at a later date.

This case highlights the serious nature of animal cruelty and the legal consequences that can ensue. The Syracuse Police Department is treating the matter with the gravity it deserves, as reflected in the charges brought against Paglia.
