Liberty, NC – In a tragic turn of events, 19-year-old Aaron Swan from Liberty, known for his playful nature and role as a model sibling, lost his life in a hit-and-run incident. The suspect, 45-year-old Desmond Ritter, has been arrested in New Jersey, far from the scene of the accident in Alamance County.
The incident occurred when Swan was driving along County Line Road near Oak Tree Lane in Liberty. His vehicle was sideswiped by a box truck, allegedly driven by Ritter. Following the collision, Swan’s car veered off the road and into a ditch, leaving behind only a shattered mirror as evidence of the tragic event.
The grief-stricken family of Swan is struggling to come to terms with their loss. Swan, remembered for his close bond with his younger brother and protective nature towards his sister, leaves behind a family grappling with unanswered questions and a sense of injustice.
Ritter, originally from Greenville, South Carolina, was apprehended by New Jersey State Police and is currently in custody, awaiting extradition back to North Carolina. Charges against him are pending.
As the family and friends of Aaron Swan mourn their loss, they seek time and space to process their grief and prepare for his funeral.
