LEWES, DE – A 15-year-old student from Cape Henlopen High School was arrested on Wednesday morning by the Delaware State Police in connection with a gun found on school property last week.

The incident involved a 17-year-old student, who was found with the firearm on January 17, after being detained by school authorities.

Investigations revealed that the 15-year-old had given the gun to the 17-year-old at their residence in Rehoboth Beach on January 16.

The two students had conspired to keep the firearm hidden from the School Resource Officer and school staff. The 15-year-old turned himself in to detectives at Troop 4 on Thursday.

Charges against the 15-year-old include Possession of a Deadly Weapon by Person Under 18, Possession of a Firearm in a Safe School Zone, and Conspiracy 2nd Degree, all felonies. Following arraignment by Family Court, the teen was released to a guardian on a $2,500 unsecured bond and issued a no-contact order with the Cape Henlopen School District.
