BETHESDA – The Montgomery County Department of Police – 2nd District Investigative Section is investigating an armed robbery that occurred in Bethesda on Saturday, January 6. Detectives have released surveillance footage and are seeking the public’s assistance in identifying the suspects involved.
The incident took place at around 2:30 a.m. near the 4900 block of Cordell Avenue. An adult male victim was approached by two suspects while walking towards a parking garage. One of the suspects forcibly removed a necklace from the victim’s neck and began fleeing towards the garage.
The suspect dropped his mobile phone, which the victim attempted to retrieve. This led to a violent altercation where the suspect, pulling a handgun from his waistband, struck the victim in the face with the weapon, causing him to fall to the ground. Both suspects then escaped in a silver-colored vehicle.
The Montgomery County Police, upon reviewing surveillance footage, have obtained descriptions of the suspects. They urge anyone with information about this incident or the individuals involved to come forward. The police department emphasizes the importance of community assistance in solving this case and ensuring the safety of the community.
