WASHINGTON, D.C. – Detectives from the D.C. Metro Police Department are reaching out to the community for assistance in identifying three suspects involved in a recent armed carjacking. The incident took place on Saturday in the 100 block of Wilmington Place, Southeast, D.C.
The victim, a rideshare driver, was carjacked after picking up the suspects near South Capitol Street and Southern Avenue in Southwest D.C. The group directed the driver to an alley in Wilmington Place, where one suspect brandished a handgun and demanded the car keys. When the victim resisted, the suspects assaulted them and fled with the victim’s vehicle and property.
Thanks to the coordinated efforts of multiple law enforcement agencies and MPD’s helicopter, the victim’s vehicle and property were recovered, and several suspects were apprehended. The victim, following the ordeal, received medical treatment at a local hospital.
Among the apprehended, a 15-year-old male from Southeast, D.C., has been charged with Armed Carjacking and Unauthorized Use of a Vehicle. Two other juveniles, a 14-year-old from Hyattsville, MD, and another 15-year-old from Greenbelt, MD, face charges of Unauthorized Use of a Vehicle.

Surveillance cameras in the vicinity captured images of the remaining suspects, and the MPD is currently reviewing this footage as part of their ongoing investigation.
