Theresa Baldwin, a resident of Pamplin, Virginia, has won the $500,000 top prize in the Virginia Lottery’s VIP Cash scratcher game. Baldwin, who regularly plays Virginia Lottery scratchers without a specific preference, purchased the winning ticket at Murphy USA, located at 423 Oakville Road in Appomattox.
Describing her relaxed method of playing, Baldwin mentioned to Lottery officials that she typically selects games randomly. The realization of her significant win left her in a state of disbelief. “I just kind of sat there looking at it,” she said, still processing the unexpected windfall.
Currently working in Lynchburg, Baldwin has not yet decided on plans for her winnings, but expressed her excitement, saying, “It feels great!”
VIP Cash, a popular scratcher game offered by the Virginia Lottery, features a range of prizes from $10 to the $500,000 top prize. Baldwin’s win marks the first top prize claim in this game, leaving two more top prizes available. The odds of securing the top prize in VIP Cash are 1 in 612,000, while the overall chances of winning any prize are 1 in 3.95.
