GARRETT COUNTY, MD – Rachel Lin Giffen, 23, from Terra Alta, has been arrested in connection to arson incidents in West Virginia and Maryland.
Following her arrest by the West Virginia State Fire Marshal for setting a fire at her employer’s store in Terra Alta, Giffen admitted to also starting a fire at Fox’s Pizza Den in Oakland, Maryland, where she was formerly employed.
This Maryland incident occurred on July 4, 2023.
Maryland investigators confirmed her involvement through surveillance footage and interviews.
Giffen was charged with second-degree malicious burning in Maryland and was released on a $5,000 unsecured bond after turning herself in. The Maryland fire was contained with minimal damage and did not initially involve the State Fire Marshal’s Office.
