PHILADELPHIA – Jessica Navarro, 31, from Winter Springs, Florida, has been sentenced to nine months in prison and one year of supervised release for her disruptive and violent behavior on a Frontier Airlines flight. The sentence was handed down by Judge Nitza I. Quinones Alejandro, as announced by U.S. Attorney Jacqueline C. Romero.

Navarro pleaded guilty in June 2023 to one count each of interfering with a flight crew, assaulting a flight attendant, and assaulting a passenger. The incident, which took place on January 11, 2022, involved Navarro, under the influence of alcohol, kicking seats, spitting on passengers, and physically resisting the flight crew. Her actions escalated to striking a flight attendant and a passenger, leading to the diversion of the flight, originally from Orlando, Florida to Islip, New York, to Philadelphia International Airport.

U.S. Attorney Romero emphasized the danger and trauma caused by Navarro’s actions to passengers and crew, highlighting the inconvenience her behavior caused to everyone on board. Romero warned that federal crimes committed aboard aircraft would be met with firm legal consequences.

FBI Philadelphia’s Special Agent in Charge, Wayne A. Jacobs, also commented on the case, underscoring the risk posed by such disruptive behavior on flights and the commitment of the FBI to bring offenders to justice.
