NEWARK, NJ – A rescue operation led by the Newark Animal Control and the Associated Humane Societies (AHS) resulted in the safe retrieval of over a dozen neglected animals, including 12 dogs, cats, turtles, a macaw, a bearded dragon, and a snake. The team responded to a distress call, discovering the animals in deplorable conditions, with cages and crates covered in waste and signs of severe emaciation.
Upon arrival at the AHS Newark Shelter, the veterinary team immediately began providing necessary care. The dogs, exhibiting friendly behavior despite their fright, were taken to the medical department, showing signs of relief at finally receiving the attention they needed.
Currently, the animals are undergoing critical care, including hydration, structured feeding schedules, and close monitoring by medical staff. Facing an influx of medical cases, the shelter remains committed to assisting animals in need and is actively seeking community support. AHS has initiated a fundraising campaign with a goal of $100,000 to aid in the medical care and rehabilitation of these animals, urging the public to contribute and make a difference in their recovery and future well-being.
