Lion at the Jersey Shore Comfortable at New Home in the Pines

FORKED RIVER, NJ – Kanu, a lion known for his friendly demeanor and playful quirks, has found a new home at Popcorn Park in New Jersey. Previously residing at a care facility in Pennsylvania, Kanu was relocated following the loss of his mate. He arrived at Popcorn Park on December 19 and has been adapting well to his new environment.

Kanu has shown a particular interest in his fellow big cat neighbor, Simba, as he settles into his surroundings. The park staff is focused on ensuring a smooth transition, prioritizing his safety and comfort. Known for his unique behavior, including carrying his paw in his mouth and hopping around his enclosure, Kanu has quickly become a favorite among visitors and staff.

Popcorn Park invites the public to join Kanu’s journey through their Wildlife Club. For the month of January 2024, new sponsors of Kanu in the Wildlife Club Program will receive a limited edition Kanu t-shirt. Sponsors will also get regular updates on Kanu’s progress, unlimited visits to the park, and the knowledge that their contributions are directly aiding his care and well-being.

This initiative not only supports Kanu’s daily needs and medical care but also integrates the sponsors into his extended family, playing a vital role in his new chapter at Popcorn Park.
