BRICK TOWNSHIP, NJ – A fatal hit and run occurred on January 13, 2024, at approximately 9:15 a.m. at the intersection of Route 35 South and Bay Avenue in Brick Township, prompting a thorough investigation by local authorities.
The Brick Township Police Department responded to the scene following reports of a collision involving a pedestrian. Upon arrival, officers found that a vehicle had struck a female pedestrian on the shoulder of the road before fleeing. The victim was transported to Hackensack Meridian Ocean University Medical Center in Brick Township, where she was pronounced dead.
The ongoing investigation has identified the suspect vehicle as a spruce green 1998-2001 Ford Explorer, expected to have damage on the front passenger side and a broken front passenger side headlight.
Detective Anthony Carrington of the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office and Patrolman Scott Mesmer of the Brick Township Police Department are leading the investigation.
