Baltimore Suspect Arrested For Shooting Package Delivery Man

BALTIMORE, MD – Darrien Gaither, a 20-year-old resident of Baltimore, was arrested Friday by Western District detectives and members of the Capital Area Regional Fugitive Task Force. Gaither is suspected of involvement in a December 29th shooting incident on Liberty Heights Avenue, resulting in the injury of a 50-year-old male.

The shooting occurred around 6:10 p.m. on December 29th, in the 2400 block of Liberty Heights Avenue. Officers arriving at the scene found a 50-year-old man with a gunshot wound to his left ankle. The victim, who was delivering packages at the time, was caught in the crossfire of an altercation between two groups of juvenile males in a parking lot. He was rushed to a hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening.

Western District Shooting detectives took over the investigation. Their efforts led to the identification and arrest of Gaither, who is now facing charges of first-degree attempted murder. He was taken to the Central Booking Intake Facility following his arrest.
