NYPC Make Arrest in 2022 Hate Crime Investigation

NEW YORK CITY, NY – The New York City Police Department has arrested and charged an individual in connection to a criminal mischief incident that occurred on Thursday, July 28, 2022, within the confines of the 10th Precinct. The arrest was made on January 12, 2024.

The arrested individual has been identified as Salah Elnaggar, a 61-year-old male residing at 336 68th Street, Brooklyn, NY. Elnaggar has been charged with Criminal Mischief.

The incident in question involved the defacement of property and the display of anti-Semitic statements. On that day, at approximately 0050 hours, in front of 593 9th Avenue, an unidentified individual wrote down anti-Semitic statements on a piece of paper and posted it. Subsequently, the individual displayed a hammer and proceeded to break the storefront windows.

The Hate Crimes Task Force is currently investigating this incident. As of now, there have been no other arrests made in connection with this case.
