BOSTON – Tomas Xirum, 48, owner of International Guatemala Musical and Fashion Accessories in New Bedford, was sentenced to 18 months in federal prison for producing and selling fraudulent government identification documents.

U.S. District Judge Patti B. Saris announced the sentence following Xirum’s guilty plea in August 2023 to three counts each of unlawful transfer and production of document or authentication feature.

Xirum was involved in selling counterfeit Permanent Resident Cards and Social Security cards to undercover agents on three occasions: May 10, 2021; June 23, 2021; and August 11, 2022, all conducted from his store.

Significantly, after his guilty plea, Xirum persisted in creating and distributing fraudulent government IDs, leading to the revocation of his pretrial release.
