18-Year-Old Shot and Killed in Upper Marlboro

UPPER MARLBORO, MD – Detectives from the Prince George’s County Police Department’s Homicide Unit are investigating a fatal shooting involving 18-year-old Olamide Olakanye of Upper Marlboro.

The incident, which occurred late Tuesday night, is not believed to be random.

On Tuesday, officers responded to a shooting and subsequent car crash at the 5300 block of Sheriff Road around 11:20 pm.

They found Olakanye in the car with gunshot wounds, later pronounced dead at a hospital. It was discovered that Olakanye had been shot at the 1200 block of Dunbar Oaks Drive before crashing his car.

Detectives are actively seeking a motive and are working to identify any suspects. The public can assist by contacting the Homicide Unit at 301-516-2512 or through various online platforms. A $25,000 reward is being offered for information leading to an arrest and indictment, with case number 24-0001989.
