QUEENS, NY – Queens District Attorney Melinda Katz has announced that Mark Douglas has been sentenced to nine years in prison following a series of violent and criminal acts.

Douglas, from Beach Channel Drive in Arverne, was convicted of several charges including conspiracy, bribery, witness tampering, assault, and criminal possession of a weapon. Queens Supreme Court Justice John Zoll sentenced him on Tuesday, adding five years of post-release supervision.

The charges stem from a May 16, 2021, incident where Douglas assaulted a 43-year-old man with a glass bottle after a dispute at a birthday party, resulting in the victim requiring over 100 stitches.

Subsequently, Douglas sought to have the main witness against him killed. An undercover operation by NYPD’s Intelligence Bureau led to his arrest on September 7, 2022, on additional charges, including conspiracy and bribing a witness.

The NYPD’s Intelligence Operations and Analysis Section and Brooklyn South Violent Crime Squad conducted the investigation under Chief Thomas Galati’s supervision.
