Bicycle Assailant in Brooklyn Hate Crime Assault Now in Custody

BROOKLYN, NY – The New York City Police Department has successfully apprehended and charged Mohamed Habachi, a 23-year-old male from Brooklyn, in connection with a recent assault in the 90th Precinct.

The arrest, made yesterday at around 10:45 am, addresses an incident that occurred on Wednesday, November 22nd. At approximately 6:28 pm, a 45-year-old male victim was attacked while walking in front of 9 Montrose Avenue. The assailant, who was on a bicycle, made derogatory remarks before throwing a rock, which struck the victim’s right leg. The attacker then fled the scene on his bicycle, heading west towards Broadway. The victim suffered a laceration to the right leg due to the assault.

Habachi faces multiple charges, including Assault as a Hate Crime, Assault with a Weapon, Menacing as a Hate Crime, Menacing, and Criminal Possession of a Weapon. This development marks a significant step in the ongoing investigation by the NYPD.
