FUQUAY-VARINA, NC – Roger Lundy, a resident of Fuquay-Varina in Wake County, is planning to buy a new car after winning a $100,000 top prize in a second-chance lottery drawing.
Lundy’s win came from the Season-End Extravaganza second-chance drawing held on Wednesday, which had over 4.2 million entries. “I threw a bunch of extra points in there,” he said, referring to his participation in this significant annual drawing.
Upon receiving an email notification of his win on Thursday morning, Lundy shared the news with his wife, who initially thought he was joking. “We are both thrilled,” Lundy said with a laugh.
After claiming his prize at lottery headquarters on Thursday and undergoing the necessary federal and state tax withholdings, Lundy’s take-home amount was $71,500. He expressed an interest in purchasing a Hyundai Palisade.
The Season-End Extravaganza drawing awarded three North Carolina lottery players each with a $100,000 prize, with the other two winners yet to claim their prizes.
