WEYMOUTH, MA – George Bouchard, a Weymouth resident and Post Commander at American Legion Morrisette Post 294 in Quincy, won the $1 million top prize in the Massachusetts State Lottery’s New Year’s Day Mass Millionaire Holiday Raffle. He claimed his prize on January 5 at the Mass Lottery’s Dorchester headquarters.

Bouchard plans to use his winnings to purchase cars for himself and his daughter, prioritizing safety for her and his grandchild. Additionally, he intends to assist veterans with the $10,000 bonus awarded to the post for selling the winning ticket.

The raffle also awarded Bouchard a $100 voucher upon purchasing his winning ticket, part of a promotional scheme where every 100th ticket sold statewide earned a $100 cash voucher.

Two of the four $250,000 prizes have been claimed. Lisa Malone of Springfield, who recently purchased a house, claimed her prize on January 2. She purchased her winning ticket at Chapin East Variety Store in Ludlow. Alexandra Chapman of Foxborough, who claimed her prize on January 4, bought her winning ticket at The Country Store in Foxborough and plans to save her winnings.

Additional $250,000 prizes were sold at EZ Convenience & Vape Shop in Chicopee and at Poquoy Brook Golf Club in Lakeville. Four of six $25,000 prizes have been claimed, with tickets sold in Pittsfield, Fall River, Barre, and Dorchester. Prizes from tickets sold in Hudson and Dracut remain unclaimed.

Winners have a year from the drawing date to claim their prizes. The New Year’s Day drawing concluded a series of draws that began on October 20, with weekly $20,000 prize winners remaining eligible for the New Year’s Day draw.
