Winter Weather Alert Issued for Heavy Rainfall in Ocean County Saturday

TOMS RIVER, NJ – Residents of Ocean County are bracing for a significant winter storm expected to hit the area over the weekend. The National Weather Service has issued a weather alert, forecasting a mix of rain and snow accompanied by strong winds.

Starting Saturday afternoon, rain is predicted to begin, with a high near 46 degrees. Winds from the southwest, shifting east in the afternoon at 10 to 15 mph, are expected. The likelihood of precipitation stands at 100%, with new rainfall amounts between a quarter and a half of an inch.

Conditions will intensify Saturday night, with rain continuing before tapering off around 2 a.m. The temperature will drop to around 35 degrees. North winds will increase to approximately 20 mph, with gusts potentially reaching 35 mph. Precipitation chances remain at 100%, with additional rainfall between three quarters and one inch.

Sunday’s forecast includes a possibility of rain until 4 p.m., then transitioning to a chance of rain and snow. The day will be cloudy with a high near 42 degrees and northwest winds at 10 to 15 mph. The chance of precipitation is 60%, but snow accumulation is expected to be minimal.
