BETHLEHEM TOWNSHIP, PA – The Township of Bethlehem, in Northampton County, Pennsylvania, has declared a Snow Emergency effective from 12 pm Saturday, until 6 am Sunday. The declaration was announced by the Bethlehem Township Police Department, headed by Chief Gregory J. Gottschall.
During this emergency, parking on designated Snow Emergency routes and all cul-de-sacs is prohibited. Residents must equip their vehicles with snow tires or chains for travel on designated roads.
Non-compliant vehicles may be towed at the owner’s expense. The list of designated Snow Emergency Routes is available on the Township website.
Residents are advised to remove parked vehicles from township roadways to facilitate snow removal efforts. The police department also asks citizens to avoid unnecessary travel to allow Public Works to clear the roadways safely.
Property owners are reminded to clear snow from school bus stops and around fire hydrants, maintaining a clearance of at least 3 feet. Additionally, per Township Ordinance, sidewalks must be cleared of snow and ice within 24 hours after the snowfall ends. The illegal act of depositing snow or ice onto township roadways is highlighted.
