Police Encounter Turns Violent: Officer Shot in Monroeville

MONROEVILLE, PA – A Monroeville police officer was injured in an officer-involved shooting incident following an armed robbery report. The event occurred yesterday evening, with Monroeville Emergency Dispatch being alerted to the robbery in the 4100 block of William Penn Highway at approximately 9:13 pm.

A police officer, while patrolling east on Monroeville Boulevard near Stonecliffe Drive, encountered an individual matching the robbery suspect’s description at 9:17 pm. The suspect reportedly fired several rounds at the officer’s vehicle, hitting the officer multiple times. The injured officer was promptly taken to a local hospital and is currently in stable condition.

At 9:18 pm, additional responding officers located the suspect in a parking lot on Stonecliffe Drive. The adult male suspect was apprehended without further incident.

Following the shooting, the Monroeville Police Department requested the support of the Allegheny County Police Department’s Homicide Unit. Detectives from the unit have initiated an investigation into the incident.
