BALTIMORE, MD – A shooting incident in Baltimore’s Central District has led to an arrest following a rapid police response in the early hours of January 1. Around 1:22 a.m., officers patrolling near the 400 Block of East Baltimore Street heard gunfire emanating from a parking garage on the Unit block of Guilford Avenue.

Upon investigating, officers spotted a male exiting the parking garage stairwell onto East Baltimore Street. The individual was stopped and searched, leading to the discovery of a handgun in his pants pocket. The weapon’s condition suggested recent use. The suspect, a 30-year-old male, was immediately taken into custody.

Further search efforts in the garage led to the discovery of a 22-year-old female victim with multiple gunshot wounds to her upper body and face. Before being transported to a hospital by medics, where she is currently in stable condition, the victim identified the detained male as the shooter and her boyfriend.

Central District Shooting detectives have taken charge of the investigation. The police are seeking additional information and urge anyone who can provide further details to contact the Central District Shooting detectives at 410-396-2411.
