33-Year-Old Dies in Bicycle Collision in D.C., Suspect Flees

WASHINGTON, DC – The Washington, D.C. Metro Police Department’s Major Crash Investigations Unit is currently investigating a tragic incident in which 33-year-old Peter Black, a resident of Northwest D.C., was fatally struck by a vehicle while cycling.

The incident occurred on December 19th, around 9:47 p.m., when Black was riding his bicycle northbound in the lanes of 1200 New Jersey Avenue, Northwest. A black four-door sedan, reportedly speeding southbound on the same avenue, veered into the northbound lanes as it attempted to turn left onto Morgan Street, Northwest. In this process, the sedan collided with Black and then fled the scene.

Black was immediately transported to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries. Unfortunately, he succumbed to these injuries and was pronounced dead the following day.

The police are actively seeking information regarding this hit-and-run incident.
