PINELLAS COUNTY, FL – Detectives from the Robbery/Homicide Unit are investigating a shooting incident linked to a residential burglary in North Redington Beach. The incident occurred in the early hours of Wednesday, December 27.

At approximately 3:16 a.m., deputies from the Patrol Operations Bureau responded to a disturbance at 16400 Gulf Boulevard, where they found 51-year-old Robert Jackson in the roadway, behaving erratically. A subsequent 911 call at 3:23 a.m. reported a residential burglary at 208 Bath Club Boulevard North.

Upon arrival, deputies found Jackson with a gunshot wound on Bath Club Boulevard. The investigation revealed that Jackson had earlier been causing a disturbance on Gulf Boulevard before smashing the front window of a residence at 208 Bath Club Boulevard with a rock. Inside, he engaged in a physical altercation with 74-year-old Sherry Treadwell.

Sherry’s husband, 76-year-old John Treadwell, hearing her screams, saw the struggle and shot Jackson in the right shoulder in self-defense. Jackson then attempted to burglarize another nearby home unsuccessfully before being apprehended by deputies.

Jackson was hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries and faces charges of Burglary with Battery and Attempted Residential Burglary. He will be transferred to the Pinellas County Jail upon his release from the hospital.
