Cumberland Woman Arrested on Multiple Assault and Burglary Charges

CUMBERLAND, MD — On December 26, 2023, Cumberland Police Department officers arrested Carla Jean Redinger, 48, of Cumberland, Maryland, following an incident that occurred on May 19, 2021. Redinger was served with an Arrest Warrant related to charges including first-degree assault, two counts of second-degree assault, first-degree burglary, and reckless endangerment.

The incident leading to these charges took place at a residence on City View Terrace. Redinger reportedly entered another family’s property and complained about their child playing. She then kicked a barrel, which struck the child. When confronted by a male family member, Redinger allegedly grabbed him by the throat, attempting to strangle him. Officers noted redness on the victim’s neck upon their arrival.

Redinger was taken into custody and transported to the Allegany County Detention Center, where she awaited her initial court appearance. The Cumberland Police Department’s prompt response and investigation have led to these charges, ensuring that justice is served in this alarming case of assault and burglary.
