ROY, UT – A 36-year-old man from Roy, Utah, Jonathan Dunn, has been charged with murder and child sexual abuse following the death of a 2-year-old boy and severe injuries to the boy’s twin sister. Roy Police responded to Dunn’s call on Thursday, finding the boy, named Aleister, unresponsive with visible injuries.
Upon arrival at Dunn’s residence, officers found Aleister on the porch and his sister inside, both showing signs of physical abuse. Paramedics rushed the children to the hospital, where Aleister was pronounced dead and his sister was listed in critical condition.
According to a probable cause affidavit, Dunn confessed to detectives that he had engaged in a violent “game” with the children the previous evening.
He admitted to punching them repeatedly in the back, sides, and chest, acknowledging that he hit them harder than he should have. The affidavit also states that Dunn used the butt of a nerf gun to hit the children, pinched them, and pushed them into a closet door frame, causing them to go limp.
Dunn claimed he administered cough medicine to Aleister when the boy began wheezing in the morning. After about an hour, Aleister stopped breathing, prompting Dunn to call 911. The investigation into this tragic incident continues.
