UTICA, NY – Utica Police responded to a robbery at a local convenience store on Seymour Avenue on December 25th, around 9:15 PM.
The store clerk reported that a male entered the store demanding to make a purchase on store credit. After the clerk refused, the suspect became aggressive, damaging items within the store. He then forcibly entered the register area behind the counter.
The suspect physically threatened the employee, opened the cash register, and took all the money before fleeing. Police, provided with a description, located a man matching it nearby. When approached, the man ran, leading to a foot chase before being apprehended and handcuffed.
The suspect was positively identified and transported to the Utica Police Department. During the inventory of his belongings, officers found over $350, believed to be taken from the store’s register.
