QUEENS, NY – Queens District Attorney Melinda Katz announced the indictment of Reginald Nash, 24, on multiple charges, including aggravated vehicular homicide and driving under the influence. The charges stem from a high-speed, multi-car crash on the Long Island Expressway last month, resulting in one fatality and severe injuries to several passengers.
DA Katz emphasized the dangers of driving while intoxicated, noting the irreversible consequences of such actions. Nash, residing on Lincoln Avenue in Roosevelt, faces a 15-count indictment. Charges include aggravated vehicular homicide, aggravated vehicular assault, second-degree manslaughter, and vehicular manslaughter, among others.
The collision, occurring on November 19 at around 4:30 AM, involved Nash’s 2021 Honda Accord on the LIE. After crashing into a barrier, the Honda collided with a Toyota, which then struck a Kia. The crash left Cameron Mency, 23, a passenger in Nash’s car, dead at the scene and others with severe injuries. Nash’s fiancée, Giselle Carchi, 22, and two other passengers, Tiffany Cox, 36, and Crystal Ramos, 22, were hospitalized with significant trauma.
Nash’s blood alcohol content was recorded at .12 percent, over the legal limit. The car’s black box revealed a speed of approximately 89 miles per hour before the crash, with no evidence of braking. If convicted, Nash could face up to 25 years in prison.
