ANNE ARUNDEL COUNTY, MD — A regular day turned extraordinary for an Anne Arundel County man, a transportation field worker, who won $50,000 on a Maryland Lottery scratch-off. The father of one, an avid lottery player, made the lucky purchase while returning home from work.
He stopped at Rt. 3 BP in Gambrills, one of his preferred lottery retailers, intending to play Pick 3 or Pick 4. However, the $50,000 Cash scratch-off game caught his eye, prompting him to choose it instead.
The winning moment happened in his vehicle, where he matched the number 23 on the sixth row of the scratch-off, initially revealing a $50 prize. To his astonishment, the prize turned out to be $50,000. He recounted feeling disbelief and quickly concealed the winning ticket before continuing his errands.
Upon arriving home, he shared the news with his wife, letting her know about the unexpected blessing. The couple plans to keep the win private and have yet to decide on how to spend the prize, although completing a bathroom renovation is likely.
Rt. 3 BP, located at 738 State Route 3 in Gambrills, will also receive a reward for selling the winning ticket. The retailer is set to get a $500 bonus from the Maryland Lottery. The $50,000 Cash game still offers 84 top prizes of $50,000 and 93 second-tier prizes of $5,000, among other smaller prizes.
