34-Year-Old Man Falls Victim to Traffic Accident in D.C.

WASHINGTON, DC – A fatal accident in Northeast Washington, D.C., has taken the life of a man, as confirmed by the D.C. Metro Police Department’s Major Crash Investigations Unit.

The incident occurred on Friday night around 10:05 p.m. Emergency services, including DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services, were called to the 1100 block of 5th Street following reports of an unconscious individual in an alley. Upon arrival, they discovered an adult male with severe injuries. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigations revealed that the victim, identified as 34-year-old Samuel Thornton of Northeast DC, had initially fallen in the alley. Later, a vehicle, whose driver was unaware of Thornton’s presence on the ground, struck him. The driver is actively cooperating with the police investigation.

The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner has determined the cause of death to be multiple blunt force injuries, classifying it as an accidental death.
