ALLEGANY COUNTY, MD – A fatal dwelling fire at 16 Lee Street in Frostburg resulted in the death of one person. The incident, which occurred on December 24, is currently under investigation by the Office of the State Fire Marshal and the Allegany Combined County Criminal Investigation Unit (C3I).
The Frostburg Fire Department received the first 911 call just before 7:00 a.m., with the victim reporting a fire in the front area of the home. Responding to the two-alarm fire, seventy-five firefighters from Frostburg and nearby fire companies took approximately one hour to control the blaze.

After extinguishing the fire, a 58-year-old female occupant was found deceased inside the single-family dwelling. She will be transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Baltimore for an exact cause of death determination and positive identification.
Deputy State Fire Marshals have determined the fire originated in a first-floor bedroom, but the cause remains under investigation. It is unclear if smoke alarms were present in the home. Acting State Fire Marshal Jason M. Mowbray expressed condolences to the Frostburg community, urging people to keep them in their thoughts during this difficult time.
