SUNNYSIDE, NY – Neal Milano, 76, was arraigned on charges related to defacing his Sunnyside apartment building with threatening and discriminatory graffiti.
Queens District Attorney Melinda Katz emphasized the gravity of such hate-motivated actions.
On November 2, Milano allegedly used a black marker to write messages, including threats and slurs, on various floors of his condo building.
The messages contained homophobic and anti-female content, prompting charges including criminal mischief as a hate crime and making graffiti.
Milano faces up to seven years in prison if convicted. His court return date is set for January 30, 2024. The case is being prosecuted by the Hate Crimes Bureau under the supervision of higher authorities in the Major Crimes Division.
