Former New Jersey Governor Chris Christie came to the defense of his arch-nemesis Donald J. Trump today after it was announced that the Colorado Supreme Court has banned the former president from the 2024 primary ballot.

Christie said the decision is up to the voters, not a court to show Trump the door.

“I think he should be prevented from being the president of the United States by the voters of this country,” Christie said, at a town hall meeting on Tuesday. “I think it’s bad for the country if that happens. While I have very strong feelings about that as you know, I also have very strong feelings of the fact that people in this country deserve to have a trial before rights are taken away from them.”

Trump said, “The Colorado Supreme Court just voted to strip their citizens of the right to vote.”

The court of insurrection accused Trump, however, no trial has been held on the charges and the President has not been convicted of any crimes that would legally disqualify him from running for president.

The former president responded on his Truth Social platform in all caps, “BIDEN SHOULD DROP ALL OF THESE FAKE POLITICAL INDICTMENTS AGAINST ME, BOTH CRIMINAL & CIVIL. EVERY CASE I AM FIGHTING IS THE WORK OF THE DOJ & WHITE HOUSE. NO SUCH THING HAS EVER HAPPENED IN OUR COUNTRY BEFORE. BANANA REPUBLIC??? ELECTION INTERFERENCE!!!”
