Arrest Made in Southeast D.C. Shooting

WASHINGTON, D.C. – A significant development has emerged in a recent homicide case in Southeast Washington, D.C. The D.C. Metro Police Department’s Homicide Branch confirmed the arrest of an individual in connection with the fatal shooting of a woman.

The incident occurred on the morning of November 14th, around 7:33 a.m. Responding to a shooting report, officers from the Sixth District arrived at the 1900 block of Minnesota Avenue. There, they discovered a woman suffering from gunshot wounds. Despite being swiftly transported to a local hospital, the woman ultimately succumbed to her injuries.

Authorities have identified the victim as Nakysia Rachael Lemon-Williams, 26, who was of no fixed address.

Yesterday, Yazmin Owens, 24, also of no fixed address, was apprehended. The arrest followed the issuance of a DC Superior Court arrest warrant. Owens faces charges of First Degree Murder while Armed.
