PLAINFIELD, NJ – Seven years after the fatal shooting of 32-year-old Shamar Coleman in Plainfield, the Union County Prosecutor’s Office and Plainfield Police Department are renewing their call for information. The unsolved case, dating back to December 29, 2016, remains a priority for local law enforcement.
At around 5:45 p.m. on that evening, Plainfield Police Officers rushed to Seafood Rama on East Second Street. They discovered Coleman with multiple gunshot wounds. Tragically, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Union County Homicide Task Force, alongside the Plainfield Police Department, continues to investigate the murder. In a recent development, authorities are re-circulating surveillance footage showing a person of interest. This individual was seen near a small Volkswagen sedan outside the restaurant at the time of the shooting. They wore bright blue pants, white sneakers, a dark face covering, and a dual-tone hooded sweatshirt.
