WALL TOWNSHIP, NJ – On Saturday, December 16, 2023, Wall Township Police engaged in a foot pursuit at the Budget Inn Motel on State Highway 35, leading to an arrest.
The incident began around 8:58 p.m. when Patrolman Johan Moreno-Garcia and Sergeant Chris Mason were investigating a suspicious person at the motel. The individual, identified as 37-year-old William Segars of Neptune, fled on foot during the interaction.
Segars was quickly apprehended and found to have several active arrest warrants from Tinton Falls, Eatontown, Neptune, and Ocean Township. Upon arrest, he was also found in possession of a knife and heroin.
Charges against Segars include resisting arrest, obstructing the administration of law, possession of heroin, and unlawful possession of a weapon. He was subsequently transported to Monmouth County Correctional Institution in Freehold.
It is important to note that all defendants, including Segars, are presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law. This presumption is a fundamental right guaranteed under the United States Constitution and New Jersey State Law.
