BERNVILLE, Pa. — An explosion occurred early Friday morning at a residence approximately 10 miles northwest of Reading, Pennsylvania, resulting in one injury and severe damage to the property. The incident, which took place just before 7 a.m. in Bernville, led to the hospitalization of a male victim.
State Police spokesman Trooper David Boehm confirmed that a fire marshal is investigating the cause of the blast. He noted that, fortunately, two dogs at the home were unharmed.
Boehm described the event as solely an explosion, with no subsequent fire reported. Aerial footage from WPVI-TV Channel 6 in Philadelphia displayed the extensive damage, with parts of the building scattered in the vicinity.
As of now, the cause of the explosion remains unknown. Boehm emphasized the severe structural instability of the house following the incident.
A few months ago, a similar home explosion that killed five people was caught on a neighbor’s front door security camera i n Pittsburgh. Three homes were demolished and others were damaged.
