Atlantic City Police Arrest Six Juveniles in Two Carjacking Cases

ATLANTIC CITY, NJ – Atlantic City Police Department announced the arrest of six juveniles in connection with two separate carjacking incidents.

The first incident occurred on November 29, 2023, at 8:56 PM on the beach block of South Raleigh Avenue. A 68-year-old resident of Atlantic City was assaulted by a group of males who then stole the victim’s car. The victim sustained non-life-threatening injuries and received medical treatment at AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center, City Division.

Following an investigation by the Criminal Investigations Section, two juveniles were identified and arrested. They were initially reported as runaways by their families. The victim’s vehicle was recovered by the Pleasantville Police Department the day after the incident. As the investigation progressed, three more suspects were apprehended.

The second carjacking occurred on December 16 at the Ocean Casino Resort. At 10:49 PM, three males forcibly removed a 72-year-old from Brick, NJ, from their vehicle in the parking garage and fled. The victim was unharmed. Surveillance footage from the resort helped in identifying the suspects.

The stolen vehicle was spotted shortly after by patrol officers. A pursuit ensued, extending beyond Atlantic City, but was terminated due to public safety concerns. Later, at 12:25 AM, the vehicle was found in the area of the 700 block of Arctic Avenue. Officers Moustafa Maarouf and Jennifer Sanchez apprehended three males nearby, who were identified as the suspects involved in both carjackings.
