SPRINGDALE, OH – An incident unfolded last Wednesday at the Tri-County Golf Ranch, where Springdale police officer Michael DiStefano intervened in a dog attack.
Around 9:30 a.m., officers were called to the scene at 455 Tri-County Parkway, where Lawrence King, a 62-year-old business co-owner, was being assaulted by two dogs.
D’Andre Brown, a witness, reported the situation after observing the attack. Officer DiStefano, an experienced member of the Springdale Police Department, was first to arrive and fatally shot the dogs to cease the attack and save King’s life.
During the altercation, King sustained injuries from the dogs and was accidentally struck by a bullet in the leg. He was promptly transported to the University of Cincinnati Medical Center with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
The dogs were identified as belonging to King’s business partner. The incident raises questions about the sudden aggression of the dogs, previously known to be calm and friendly.
