MCKEAN COUNTY, PA – Sebastian VanCamp, a resident of Duke Center, has entered a guilty plea to possessing child [censored]ography.
This plea occurred during a status conference at the McKean County Courthouse, as announced by District Attorney Stephanie Vettenburg-Shaffer. VanCamp, who was already convicted last week of Rape of a Child, was set to face trial in this separate case next week.
Pennsylvania State Police Trooper Robert Whyel charged VanCamp after an investigation triggered by cybertips received by the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children from December 2022 to March of this year.
The Computer Crime Unit of the Pennsylvania State Police undertook a thorough examination, uncovering over 1,000 images and videos of child [censored]ography on VanCamp’s devices. The guilty plea specifically addresses 1,245 images and videos depicting pre-pubescent children, many also showcasing indecent contact.
Sentencing guidelines for child [censored]ography are influenced by factors such as the volume of content, age of children depicted, and presence of indecent contact. Following his conviction for Rape of a Child under 13 and other sex offenses, VanCamp underwent a sexually violent predator assessment, which takes 90 days. His sentencing for both the rape and child [censored]ography cases is scheduled for March 14, with assessments being a key factor in sentencing decisions.
